KPI hosted the first-ever girls’ streetball competition in the history of the University

Basketball is always a great sight, especially when it is played by the beautiful half of humanity. Therefore, at the beginning of September, the administrative and teaching staff and representatives of the student body decided to hold a street basketball championship (Streetball) among the women’s teams of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

However, before the competition, it was decided to organize a few pieces of training to further interest the participants of the competition and attract the attention of fans from different faculties.

The first training session, which took place on September 12 for many, was the first experience of streetball and basketball in general. In spite of this, the participants were delighted with the new game and instead spent half an hour training for two and a half hours. At the end of the training, everyone decided to meet again.

On Thursday, September 19, a real holiday of basketball was held at the KRI Sports Complex: a 3×3 women’s streetball tournament was held. The idea of holding such competitions came from the director of the Publishing and Printing Institute (VPI), Peter Kirichko. Students of VPI Mikhail Zakharov, Ruslana Strelets, Eunice Al-Sakaf, Vitaliy Logvin helped to bring this idea to life.

Before the championship, several training sessions were conducted by the lecturer of the department of publishing and editing, the candidate for the master of basketball sport Andrey Kirichok.

The main judge of the competition was the master of sports in basketball Marina Rack.

In total, 5 teams took part in the competitions, which in the end of the competition took the following places: 1st place – InTeam team (representatives of RTF, FBMI, IPSA, HTF); 2nd place – FIOT team (FIOT and VPI representatives); 3rd place – Golden state team (representatives of VPI, IFF, HTF); 4th place – Dream Team (VPI representatives); 5th place – 3×3 team (representatives of VPI). Regardless of the result of the team, all participants received prizes. The participants congratulated and presented gifts from the sponsor of the competition – Savings Bank – a representative of the bank Vita Shcherbina. Petro Kirichok handed over the balls to all the teams and backpacks from the FBU. The host of the competition was the Queen of KPI-2015 Anna Yunak. A lot of fans gathered.

The purpose of this event was not just to determine the winner, but to show everyone that the KPI is one big family that fights for their name not only in virtual space but also in real life, competing with each other and above all winning yourself and making the effort to win.

We hope that these events will be annual!
